ABOUT

The band “S.Q.I.D.”, took flight in 1998, as an aspiration to present unto the world something truly new and unorthodox. Christian Dunker and Andreas Hautz partook in an innovative venture to produce music by combining various styles and not relying on a single genre as the only source of inspiration. With specific emphasis on quality, these two aimed to create only the best of the best. And thus in 2003, they released their first Album, ‘S.Q.I.D. [No Comments]’, consisting of five phenomenal tracks.
A brand-new player entering the musical arena, S.Q.I.D. too had humble beginnings. The equipment Christian and Andreas started with was rudimentary. And even though the sound quality may not have been exceptional, their determination and ingenuity ensured that the songs they produced were artistically sublime. With life’s many intricacies in the way, they decided to take a hiatus till 2016 in order to pursue higher education. Indeed, a testament to Christian’s gumption was his continuous efforts to balance his personal commitments with his aspirations to advance his musical career.
During his hiatus, Christian continued experimenting with different software as well as hardware options in the process of building a home studio. As he established himself, S.Q.I.D. soon became a solo project, as Andreas could not join due to personal obligations. Nevertheless, the two of them did release an album, ‘S.Q.I.D. [1998-2018]’ as a homage to their time together.
Christian wished for his music to not only serve as an expression of his artistic brilliance but also be a means to bring a positive change to the world. He produced the album ‘S.Q.I.D. – [C.J.R]’, in order to support and raise funds for the “Ciarra Joy Rhodes – Memorial Tournament”, an annual softball tournament held in order to raise awareness regarding suicide and its prevention. He also collaborated on other projects such as Team42 (Make Racism Wrong Again), to compose music for videos on YouTube.
With the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic as a tremendous obstacle, he remained steadfast in composing tunes meant to provide solace in stressful times. Containing touching singles like “Better days seem so far away, but”, and “Distance can be a part of love”, he released the album ‘Lockdown’ which he considers one of his finest works yet. With new albums due to be released in 2022, and a new era of multi genre music in the works, S.Q.I.D. hopes to leave a mark on the music industry as the champion of radical innovation.
