Meet Some Talent: James Parris, Director

 

James Parris was born in 1969 to A Doctor/Nurse couple in New York City. His leap into commercial art began at the prestigious High School of Art & Design in Manhattan, where he majored in Illustration, internalizing the principles of design, along with drawing and painting technique. He continued his studies at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, honing his craft and attaining a BFA in communications design. After freelancing for a few years as an illustrator/storyboard artist in New York, James was approached by Walt Disney Feature Animation and asked to relocate to their fledgling east-coast facility in Orlando. As a Disney animator, James was a prominent artistic voice, contributing to the box-office triumph of 'The Lion King' in 1993, and staying on through the production of 'Tarzan' in 1998.

James' ultimate goal of live-action filmmaking brought him to Los Angeles, where he currently resides. After brief stints at the Dreamworks Animation studio, MTV, Duck Soup an
