Over the years he has opened solo and acoustic for artists such as Ray Charles, John Lee Hooker, Pops Staples, John Hammond and others at Blues festivals, and for Rock artists like Steve Marriott, Nico, Johnny Thunders, Wilko Johnson and (Suicide’s) Alan Vega. He has also sang briefly with Elvis Presley’s original band and The Yardbirds who considered him as their lead singer.

ABOUT

Robert was born in Italy and moved to London on his own when he was 19. After his band The Electric Kids in the late 1980s, he performed solo and acoustic and his style absorbed influences from the Delta Blues tradition. His first album with worldwide distribution was released in 2012. His first three albums have elements that go from the Blues to early Rock’n’Roll, Garage Rock and 1977 Punk Rock. The 2020 album When My Train Comes was acoustic and rooted in Delta Blues. His songs are all self-contained stories based on real people and events, set in a metropolitan setting and sometimes with a social commentary. When it comes to his songwriting, Robert quotes Hank Williams: “People don’t write music. It’s given to them”.
