“Born for this“, best describes Nevva B. DaSame, born David Anderson. From as early as the age of 3, Nevva knew that music was his passion, performing with the Adult Choir in church. He always possessed a keen ear for harmonies and vocal arrangements. At 13, he recorded his first song with Gary Cooper. At the age of 16 he joined the group, “Image”, a very popular Quartet in the Cincinnati area. While in the group, he underwent artist development with the late Dwain Mitchell, producer of the Mighty O’Jays in Cleveland Ohio. Under the tutorage of Mr. Mitchell, Nevva discovered his knack for songwriting, and wrote and recorded many songs at “The Palace” recording studio. During this time he began writing for a group in the W.E.D. camp called, “UTurn”, until the untimely passing of that group’s lead singer. From there, Nevva relocated to Hartford Connecticut, where he performed throughout the city, and worked under the tutorage of Harold Sargeant (Wood, Brass, and Steel), until he finally decided to leave “Image” to pursue a solo career.
He performed on the World Famous “Amateur Night at The Apollo” in Harlem, to mediocre success. After appearing on the Apollo, he was presented with his first and only Recording Contract. During this time, he recorded songs with Darryl Gaines (Me II U), David Scott and Angelo Ray (Kevon Edmonds 24/7). Although this was a great time in his life, a nearly $0 budget caused the record to never make it past the pre-production phase. Feeling totally let down from this experience, Nevva decided to take a hiatus from music to pursue a different avenue in life.
In 2009, with the passing of his mother, Nevva left his career to once again rekindle his flame with his first love, which IS MUSIC. He became Nevva B. DaSame in 2009, because when he said goodbye to his mother, he knew that he NEVER WOULD BE THE SAME. His life, music, and ALL talents are now dedicated to her memory.
So sit back, and enjoy the soulful, heartfelt music that pours from his heart. Inspired by the likes of Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, even R. Kelly and Johnny Gill, and writers such as Rod Templeton, LA & Babyface, Jam & Lewis, Gamble & Huff, Gerald Levert, and many others. He writes from his spirit, and above all he stays true to himself.
