Rhonda is a six-time international music award winner, and has travelled international to perform in Australia, United States and across Canada.
Opaskwayak, Manitoba, Canada - Rhonda composed the song Kisahkihitin I Love You in the Cree Language and composed the melody based on the landscape of her reserve Opaskwayak Cree Nation, in northern Manitoba. The song was arranged for a symphony by Charles Cozens who is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The piano and vocals where recorded at the Exchange District Studio in Winnipeg, MB. Piano by Andrew Legeny, who is based in The Pas, MB.
Recording session by Musiversal, post-production by Musiveral – Dan Brown. Music production by Musiversal, Prague Orchestra by Musiversal based in the UK.
The lyrics are sung in the Indigenous Language of the Swampy Cree Dialect in Northern Manitoba. The song is then translated in spoken word in the English language.
The song’s melodic sounds brings a sense of warm comforting feelings of love and caring.
About
Rhonda Head is a Mezzo-Soprano from Opaskwayak Cree Nation. She has been studying classical music with Private vocal teachers from Toronto, Ontario; Denver, Colorado; The Pas, Manitoba; and Winnipeg, Manitoba. Rhonda also had the opportunity to study with Dramatic Mezzo Soprano - Barbara McAllister in Oklahoma, and world renowned Vocal teacher Richard Armstrong at the Banff Centre for Arts.
Rhonda will be recorded her third CD at the Banff Centre and it was considered to be a huge stepping stone for her as an artist. She has written the songs and composed the music in her CD called Kisakihitan. The music will fuse Classical and First Nation music that creates hauntingly beautiful music. Sharing and singing classical/spiritual music with the public is extremely rewarding to her. To be able to perform these beautiful timeless pieces will be an experience of a lifetime. This event will allow Rhonda to reach a wider audience, nationally and globally. Rhonda received a nomination for Best Inuit, Indigenous Language or Fracophone and won the respective category.
