Every year true Hip Hop heads and beat tape junkies receive an audible gift from The Band of the Hawk. The Hawk’s General, Noah Archangel, formulates a listening infused with Lo-Fi Boom Bap, Trip Hop, Jazz and EDM, titled…The Maschine Wars. With the 5th Chapter, “Chronicles”, Noah grows into a full-fledged ‘Jack of all Trades’ but the “Trades” are musical genres. In 60 minutes it pumps from the dusty Hip Hop sounds of yesteryear, to harsh Industrial mayhem, smooth Progressive Jazz and bouncy EDM. Tracks like “The Shining” and “Nu Negroes” fill a wall of sound reminiscent of early Nine Inch Nails. Yet, Noah has to flex his Lo-Fi roots with songs like “Pain Purifies Steam” and “Billy Reese”. It would be a crime to ignore the incredible features like “God We Trust” w/ Yeaux Majesty, “Take Flight” w/ D.O.N., and “Sun is Birth” w/ DJ Mastermind. There is too much to mention in such a short time, so just leave with this recommendation. Listen to The Maschine Wars: Chronicles, in transit to whatever your purpose is that day. #BOHUP
