Seattle, WA — July 7^th, 2022 – Penned down by Kyle Nicholas, “Roots” is a soulful acoustic mix which was dropped for audiences on June 21^st, 2022. Produced by Kyle Nicholas and Levi Watson, the poignant and inspiring new single is a great window into the mind of Nicholas, underscored by a moving and stirring message.

“Roots” is a resounding new release by the talented and skilled artist which makes use of powerful lead vocals and mellow acoustic guitar and harmonica, ultimately delivering a track which will have listeners lost in its symphony.

The new single features Kyle Nicholas on lead and backing vocals and instrumentation, along with Levi Watson on drums and musical arrangement, and Steve Thuiller playing bass guitar. Tara Wright also makes for a compelling case with her outstanding backing vocals that smoothly balance and pair with Kyle Nicholas’ vocals. Meanwhile, Seven plays the saxophone and musician Kenny Cooperman accentuates impact with his electric guitar.

“Roots” was recorded at FlyFoot Productions where it was mixed and engineered by Levi Watson. In addition, it was mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London by producer/engineer Geoff Pesche. Pesche is renowned for having worked with several iconic and celebrated artists including Coldplay, Gorillaz, Page & Plant, Dire Straits, Blur and many more.

Despite having never known his grandfather who passed away when he was 5 months old, Kyle Nicholas always wondered what a day with him would be like. For not only was his grandfather a loving individual but also a talented and beloved musician. This continual wish of exploring his connection with his late grandfather and hearing stories about him from his grandmother inspired Nicholas to craft “Roots”.

“Roots is not only a song for my family. Yes, the lyrics are obvious and directly about my grandfather, but I wanted it to be for anyone who has dealt or dealing with the loss of a loved one,” says the artist, commenting on his profound new drop.

ABOUT

A prolific musician based in Seattle, Kyle Nicholas spent all of 2021 writing, mapping, and testing out what will soon be his debut full length studio album. After much planning and putting together a complete band ensemble, Kyle Nicholas & The Heady Groove was born.

Nicholas has spent many decades improving his craft as a musician through countless performances as a solo artist and with former band, Innocent Uprising. Following the group’s disbandment, Nicholas continued to perform as a solo act, always charged by a desire to try something new and write songs again.
